Businesses that deal with food-related products having an annual turnover that exceeds more than 20 crores can register under the Central FSSAI License Registration. Qualified food Business Operators such as Importers of food products, manufacturers of food products, Operators in central government, Railways, seaports, airports, and so on. need to obtain a Central FSSAI license under the Food Standards and Safety Authority of India.

FSSAI is that the short sort of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, and it's liable for providing food licenses to food products and to the food business owners. Fssai License is essential for all types of food business operators such as food product manufacturers, food traders, and food store operators to receive the license of FSSAI. It is the apex body that was incorporated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare; the Government of India is answerable for preparing and launching the standards for selling, storing, and packing food items in India. Additionally, this license works as per the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
Moreover, there are two types of food licenses according to the size or scale of the business, they are FSSAI Registration and FSSAI License. And FSSAI License is again divided into two parts.
Eligibility Criteria of Central FSSAI
License
· Dairy Units producing milk unit of 50000 liters or 2500 megaton milk solid yearly
· Processing Units that produce 2MT of vegetable oil daily
Slaughter unit with the daily capacity of:
1. 50 large animals
2. 150 small animals
3. 1000 poultry birds
· Meat processing unit with a capacity of fifty KG or 150 megatons daily
· Food processing unit with a daily capacity of two megaton
· Export-oriented units
· Units are having chilly storage or refrigerator facility with a storage capacity of 10000 megatons or more.
· Wholesalers engaged in the food business having an annual turnover exceeding INR 30 Crore.
· Retailers and distributors engaged in food business having an annual turnover exceeding INR 20 Crore.
· A business engaged in the activities of catering, food serving in restaurants, or food marketing with an annual turnover of INR 20 Crore or more.
· Food Catering Services in establishments and units under Central Government Agencies like Defence, etc
· Storage, wholesaler, retailer, distributor – Premises in Central Government Agencies
· Food Catering Services in Establishments and units under Central Government Agencies Like and Airport, seaport, etc (Storage, Wholesaler, Retailer, distributor premised at seaport locations)
Documents Required for Obtaining New
Central FSSAI License
· To make your process of applying for FSSAI Central License easier, we have enumerated the complete list of documents required at the time of obtaining the Central FSSAI License:-
· Duly filled and signed form B of FSSAI regulations
· Plan the layout of the premise with complete measurements of the manufacturing and operational unit.
· In case the applicant is a company: a complete list of directors such as name, address proof, contact details along with a copy of MOA, AOA & COI is necessary.
· In case the applicant is a partnership firm: a complete list of all the partners such as name, address proof, contact details, etc. along with a copy of the partnership deed is necessary.
· In case the applicant may be a co-operative society: an entire list of all the members like name address proof, contact details, etc. are necessary.
· If the applicant for a license as a registered trust: a copy of the trust deed and record of trustees is required
Address proof of premise is required, which may be anybody of the subsequent documents:
1. Electricity bill
2. Rent agreement
3. Registry of the premise, etc
· Food safety management plan or similar system in place
· Name and List of Equipment and Machinery along
· Source of milk, raw materials, and other food products alongside its location.
· NOC by the municipality or local authorities.
· If the applicant runs a hotel and the central license is obtained for the same, a tourism certificate issued by the ministry of tourism shall be compulsorily attached.
· IE code document issued by DGFT (If any)
Renewal of Central FSSAI License
· If the granted Food Central license is getting expired, then food business operators need to renew the license. According to the eligibility, the applicant should submit duly signed and completed Form A or Form B along with all necessary documents for the renewal process such as:
a. Self-declaration authenticated by an
applicant
b. Passport size photographs of the applicant
c. Aadhar card and PAN card of the applicant
d. Voter Id or driving license for Identity
proof
· The authority examines and scrutinizes the application and all the documents submitted for the renewal process.
· After completing the proper investigation and the authenticity of documents, the concerned authority grants the renewed CentralFSSAI License to the applicant.
